- Whispers [Şoapte]
In the sad night that keeps us now apart
Maybe you hear around some sighs bizarre
And fluttering of wings, words from the heart...
It is my longing coming from afar
- To the sad lover [Iubitei întristate]
I'd like a clear blue sky and peace and vivid light,
A garden, as in tales, to please and charm my sight,
With many lilac blossoms and shaded paths to take,
And weeping willow trees surrounding a small lake...
- Portrait [Portret]
She has enormous eyes,
Her mouth is small and fine,
Has sturdy breasts and thighs
And movements slow, feline.
- Lead [Plumb]
The leaden coffins slept and looked so bleak,
So did the leaden flowers and the shroud –
The vault kept me alone... wind roared aloud...
And all the leaden wreaths began to creak.
- Blood, lead, autumn [Sânge, plumb, toamnă]
Slowly, through the gloomy rain
A poor bent and coughing chest
Spitting blood and feeling pain
Turns the corner, seeking rest,
- Let's make love [Să ne iubim]
Woe! A day will surely come
When we fall in a deep sleep
Over us, in cemeteries,
Autumn bitter tears will weep.
- Regret [Regret]
I've known two poplars for so long
I still can see them on my way
It pleases me to watch them grow
But I get sad and go away.
- Autumn vexation [Nervi de toamnă]
It’s autumn, it’s rustle, it’s sleep...
The trees softly sigh in the lanes;
It’s cough, it’s weeping, it’s steep...
And it’s cold and it rains.
- Moisture [Moină]
Autumn and winter
Both are descending;
It's raining and snowing
It's snowing and raining.
- Echo of serenade [Ecou de serenadă]
Velvet-like pansies, black like Hell
On the white marble wilted away
And secretly started to rot and decay
Spreading a sad and mournful smell.
