Stay with me [O, rămâi] - Mihai Eminescu

“Stay with me and quench your fires
For I give you love and thrill,
All your longings and desires
Only I can now fulfill.

In the dark, when people shiver,
Like a prince you'll walk around
Gazing at the noisy river
With your eyes, which are profound.

And you'll hear the stags in motion
Stepping gently through the grass
If you listen well, with caution,
When at night in herds they pass.

Your nice face my eyes will capture
While you, humming a sweet tune,
In the river, full of rapture,
Sink your foot watching the moon.

When you hear the water splashes
You will muse as an old sage,
While your years will pass like flashes
And the flashes like an age”.

This is what the forest uttered
When some day I was around,
Above me, its leaves it fluttered
And I laughed hearing the sound.

Nowadays, I must be honest,
To go back would be in vain,
Where are you my dearest forest,
How can I be child again?
