Buttons Cupid [Pajul Cupidon] - Mihai Eminescu

Buttons Cupid, cute and cunning,
He's not good, but spoiled instead,
Plays and laughs with all the children
And sleeps in the ladies' bed.

From the light, like all the robbers,
Every time he keeps away,
Climbs at night the gloomy windows
Feeling carefully his way.

Ribbons and all kinds of trifles
Are his only goods for fun,
Generous, if you want nothing,
Stingy, if you're asking one.

In the book eaten by rottenness
When you search the truth at night
You will find between the pages
His long tresses, blonde and bright.

He gives thoughts hard to decipher
To the young and immature
And with icons full of splendor
Everybody will allure.

When a longing and desire
Flared into the girl's small chest,
He then slept with her in silence
Like two birdies in a nest.

He is shy, like all the children,
But his smile is always sly,
Yet, his eyes are melancholic,
Like the widow's after cry.

Necks and very pretty shoulders,
White and firm and rounded breasts,
He embraces them with passion
And on them his hands he rests.

Even if you ask him gently
He is wicked, I admit,
The white veil on your nice body
He'll remove a little bit.
